Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

I am officially in Kuala Lumpur! And it only took 28 hours to get here.

I had a 13 hour flight out of Newark with a 4 hour layover in Tokyo, followed by a 7 hour flight to Malaysia. After an hour and a half wait in the customs line (kill me) we were only an hour cab ride away from our new home for the next month. WOO!

The accommodations are in a perfect location, walking distance from our coworking space, major shopping centers and surrounded by delicious places to eat. My apartment is huge, which I was not expecting. I have a queen bed, balcony, own bathroom and plenty of living space. Coming from NYC where the average room is a glorified closet, this is quite the upgrade.

I’ve only been in Kuala Lumpur for two days but can already tell this is going to be such a fun month. The food has been incredible and relatively cheap, and the nightlife does not disappoint. We’re located about a 5 minute walk from the main strip of bars, which is convenient and dangerous 😬 Most of the bars close at 3 am, with a few going until 5 and a decent amount of bars offer free drinks for the ladies. I went out last night with a few Remote Years and have to admit that the vodka sodas got the best of me and I don’t actually remember any of the bar names. I’ll have to do a better job of documenting places in the future since I'd like to do a post about my favorite bars in the area. We have a tour of the city tonight so will hopefully get some better pics of KL!

Fun Fact: Earlier in the day we went to a bar called Opium and ordered Tiger beer. It’s served in a tankard and you pour it into the bowl to drink out of, which I loved
